Digital dilemma

Hi All,
I need a new camera.  Mine is broken (hence no new updates in forever).  I dropped it on our kitchen floor right before our Christmas trip and the boys birthdays. Not quite as bad as the time I jumped into the ocean in Aruba and then started screaming at the top of my lungs b/c I realized my camera was in the pocket of my board shorts.  My brother thought I was being attacked or something.  anyways, do you have any recommendations for a new digital camera?  Or one to stay away from?

Erica McKnight just bought one. She got it at Costco, I think. Contact her about it. I know it's a nice one.

We have bought several cameras at Costco to try them out. What kind are you looking for? A point and shoot or something fancier? We really like both of our cameras that we have right now (both from costco). The point and shoot one is a Canon powershot 850 IS (image stabiliztion). There are several models of this one to choose from. My previous camera was actually an older version of this one as well and I have liked them both. One of the functions I really like is you can take video with it too and it seems to be good quality video (we hardly ever use our regular video camera anymore because we just use the camera video function.) I also like that it has the image stabilization so if the camera is a little shakey (like if you ask a random person on vacation to take a picture for you) it still usually takes a good picture. Anyway- the other camera we have is the Canon Rebel (digital SLR). I really love this camera for lots of reasons, but it is more expensive and a lot bulkier than the point and shoot ones (probably not a good one to carry around with you). If you want any more specific info about either of these cameras email or call me!
Good Luck!!

Run, don't walk, to your nearest Target if you want a good point and shoot! They are clearing out the Sony Cybershot W150 for only 129.00. It has ISO 3200, 8.1 megapixels, large screen, smile shot technology and I love it! Erica just bought one last night to keep in her purse!

stay away from the Sony cybershot! I hate this thing. I ended up buying the extended 3 year warranty because in the first year I sent it back THREE times! Good news, they fixed it every time... bad news it BROKE THREE TIMES!

Tricia, we just bought a Cannon PowerShot. So far so good. It's way better than our old one, but our old camera wasn't that great to begin with. Good luck.

I like my Casio Exslim. I got it from Circuit City and it works great. You might even get a good deal!

We bought a Nikon Coolopix S210 from Costco tonight and we love it. We bought the same camera, the version, 6 years ago and we have had absolutely no problems with it ever! The new version of the Coolpix so much slimmer and very compact (less than 0.7" thick). It is 8mp (will print up to 11x14), 3x zoom (it has a glass lens for sharp pictures), Electronic VR stabilization, a big bright 2.5 inch LCD display (basically the whole back of the camera), it shoots a 14 minute movie, ISO 2000, it has voice recording capability, and comes with a really neat leather case and battery (a Li-ion battery that will take up to 220 shots in a single charge, and it comes with the battery charger, a 1 GB SD memory card (holds up to 496 images). Go check it out. It was a very good price for it (under $140). Good luck!
